On October 28th ‘14 THINKING-BIG’s team and the amazing group of 15 teenagers from the Aviators of the Future programme met for the third time.
Five hours felt like much, much more because a lot happened and changed in that time. This is what we’ve done:
- Group warm-up - the 15 teenagers became more than the sum of then; they became a group again.
- Context and expectations – What have we been working since the first session, one year ago, what are the outcomes along the sessions and what were the needs and expectations to be worked in this session.
- Perspective and thinking big – as always, we started by broadening perspectives, showing and discussing examples that work, alternative ways of doing the same, questioning the obvious. The sparkle on their eyes and the questions coming one after the other make us feel in the right direction.
- Strengths – once again the focus goes into their strengths. What do they see on themselves and what would they like to learn from the others? Time for sharing, asking, being closer, showing vulnerability to learn and humbleness to teach. So much being shared in the room!...
- Fears and worries – Departing from their own initiative, we dared going further. Anonymously, each of the super-15 wrote something they had inside and that was bothering/worrying them. Then, in small groups, they all discussed creative solutions for each problem. The results were absolutely amazing, showing the ability of these young people to focus on others, to think out of the box of the problems, to be willing to help others finding solutions.
- Gratefulness – After focusing on the less positive, we worked on the good things. They were invited to list and discuss things they were grateful for, increasing consciousness on all they have and enjoy in their lives. One more time the group worked together, always in a positive, optimistic mood, showing an immense ability to see what does work.
- Giving – The session ended with positive feedbacks amongst the participants and with a reflection on how do these mindshakes open their perspectives and their feeling of interconnectedness with each other.
