The project I am going to talk about took place in Barcelona, in October, for 155 workers from a big company.
For 6 days, the 3 hours sessions recurred for the different groups, being adapted every time regarding the individuals present and the group's energy level but following the same subject: "Optimism and Positive Attitude at Costumer's service".
For 3 months, the contents were thought and developed, always trying to adapt every detail to the context and peculiarities of these workers.
The project was called "El vaso tiene agua" ("The glass does have water in it") and was divided in 7 parts:
1 - Intro: Opening for a positive perspective about life and work. Meeting participants and what they expect.
2 - Intelligent Optimism: How can such an attitude help and improve our daily life.
3 - Positive emotions and well being: Why are they useful, how are they applied at work?
4 - Taking care of others - Costumer service focused from the positive interactions point of view.
5 - Strengths - How to know them and how to apply them at work, adding value to what we do.
6 - The after-crisis- Thinking big, acting with perspective
7- Your own power - What is each of the participants able to do to keep/start building a positive attitude at work.
Despite the general context of the so called "crisis" in Spain at this time, the training had a great impact. Participant's feedbacks were basically focused on "how good it is to hear some practical contents about something positive" and "how important it was to exchange positive moments with colleagues".
A big and intense project that brought up the best part of these workers and a proof that some companies keep opening their minds to the importance of well-being at work and of investing on it!
Some books that were used in this process:
- "Optimismo Inteligente", by Carmelo Vázquez y M. Dolores Avia - For a good research focused on the theme of Optimism.
- "Happiness at work", by Jessica Price-Jones - For a practical focus of these themes on companies
- "El mundo amarillo", by Albert Espinosa - For a down-to-hearth example" of "how can we see our life more according to what we want to make of it".
